When do Beinecke Scholars begin receiving scholarship payments?

Scholars are eligible to begin receiving their Beinecke Scholarship funds only after they have completed their undergraduate degree and accepted an offer to pursue graduate study as a full-time student in an accredited degree-granting program.

No, but Scholars must use all funding within six years of completing their undergraduate studies and within five years of beginning graduate studies.

No, but it is not possible to guarantee that Beinecke funds will be accepted by non-US institutions.

Yes, Beinecke Scholars are eligible to receive scholarship disbursements to supplement the support provided by a Rhodes Scholarship, Marshall Scholarship, Knight-Hennessy Scholarship, Gates Cambridge Scholarship, Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, and a Fulbright U.S. Student grant for graduate study.

Yes, Beinecke funding is considered non-replacement funding, and so universities are not allowed to decrease the amount of their internal award to Beinecke Scholars, nor are they allowed to exempt Beinecke Scholars from consideration for other internal grants.

Yes, the most that Scholars can receive from the Beinecke Scholarship in a fiscal year is $15,000, exclusive of the $5,000 start-up funds.

Scholars are encouraged to remain in regular contact with the Program Director to discuss any possible modifications to their proposed graduate school plans. The Program Director will help the student determine whether alternative graduate programs are eligible for Beinecke funding.
