Scholarship Conditions
Flexible funding to support graduate study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences—designed to complement other aid and ease the transition to graduate school.
Award Overview
Each Beinecke Scholar receives $35,000 in total support for graduate study.
- $5,000 is awarded after earning an undergraduate degree and accepting an offer of admission to graduate school.
- This initial payment helps cover application fees, travel, and other pre-enrollment costs.
- $30,000 is awarded during graduate school as supplemental support to the student’s institutional funding.
- The award is typically distributed over up to five years, depending on the university’s funding policies.
- In the absence of institutional limits, a Scholar may receive up to $15,000 per year.
- Funds are sent directly to the graduate institution and disbursed according to that school’s policies.
